Baglio. Ben was born in New York in 1960 and grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia. He has three sisters and , growing up, his parents wouldn’t agree to having another little brother for him, so Ben persuaded them to let him have a puppy - a black puppy called Nero.

He loved reading as a kid and read anything from cereal boxes to Charles Dickens. Later he attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied English literature and part of the course Ben spent a year in Edinburgh, Scotland. After graduation he started work as a children’s book editor in New York City, editing all kinds of books, even the series Sweet Valley High that has become a huge success.

Five years later he started a job in a publishing house in England and after a few years of doing this he decided to try writing his own series. He always loved animals and has two cats of his own called Benjamin and Peter. With their help as young kittens and the help of a friend that asked where are the kittens and Ben saying “in the kitchen”, he came up with the idea of an animal series and started to create the characters of Mandy Hope and James Hunter.
