　　Each Discovering Voice lesson provides focused practice for a specific element of voice and takes only ten to twenty minutes of class time. The lessons fit well with any curriculum. As students work with the elements that comprise voice, they will improve their ability to critically analyze literature. Students will also learn to apply the elements of voice to their own writing, creating a clear voice of their own. Nancy Dean is a curriculum coordinator and reading specialist at the P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School, University of Florida. She is the author of Voice Lessons: Classroom Activities to Teach Diction, Detail, Imagery, Syntax, and Tone, and the co-author of Succeeding in Reading: A Complete Cross-Age Tutoring Program. Nancy serves on the leadership teams of the National Literacy Project and the Florida Reading Initiative.
