“高职高专英语”系列教材根据《国家中长期教育改革和发展规划纲要（2010—2020年）》和教育部高教司颁布的《高职高专教育英语课程教学基本要求（试行）》编写。各教材认真贯彻“实用为主、够用为度”，“听、说、读、写、译并重”以及“边学边用、学用结合”的原则，根据《基本要求》的词汇表裁剪语料和生词量，根据《基本要求》的交际范围表选取听说、实用文体阅读和实用写作的题材，注重培养学生实际运用语言的能力，突出教学内容的实用性和针对性。
《高职高专英语教学导引（第2册）》包括《综合教程》、《综合训练》和《教学导引》各两册，并配有《B级试卷库与模拟题》和《A级试卷库与模拟题》各一册。
《高职高专英语教学导引（第2册）》为“高职高专英语”系列教材第2册的《教学导引》，包括《综合教程》、《综合训练》两种教材的教学参考内容，各包括8个单元。其中，《综合教程》教参部分每单元包括教学目标、教学计划、课文背景、重点词汇句型讲解、难句解析、参考译文及各种练习答案；《综合训练》教参部分每单元包括各种练习的答案。
《高职高专英语教学导引（第2册）》适合普通高等职业院校、高等专科学校以及成人高等学校和本科院校职业技术学院的各专业学生用作辅导教材，适合任课教师用作教学参考书，也可供相同层次的院校用作教学参考资料。
