晏阳初的平民教育思想是由中国人在中国的大地上创造的自成体系的理论。它不仅对中国乡村建设具有积极的意义，而且因其所具有的科学性和普遍性而被世界所认同，最终演变成为一场世界性的运动。晏阳初也因此受到世界范围内的广泛尊崇。
Dr. Y.C. James Yen (1890-1990) was a civilian educator well-known at home and abroad. He was a patriotic intellectual. From the 1920s to the 1940s, he devoted himself to promoting education among rural civilians and made outstanding contributions in this regard.
In the 1950s, he became UNESCO special adviser and president of the International Council for Civilian Education. From then on, he applied the Dingxian experience to other parts of the world, and set up the International Institute of Rural Construction (IIRR) in the Philippines in 1967. His theory and practice of civilian education constitute another contribution of Chinese people to world culture.
Dr. Y.C. James Yen’s thought on civilian education is a self-contained theory created by the Chinese people on the land of China. It is not only significant for China’s rural reconstruction but also recognized by the world due to its scientific and universal properties, finally evoking a worldwide movement. 晏鸿国，副研究馆员，笔名鸿愚，号三香堂主，四川省巴中市巴州区（原巴中县）人。四川省社会科学界联合会会员，四川省作家协会会员。西南大学中国乡村建设学院名誉院长，巴中市巴州区晏阳初博物馆名誉馆长，浙江师范大学农村研究中心特邀研究员。主要著作有《晏阳初传略》（天地出版社2005年版）、《做世界新民》（五洲传播出版社2010年版）、《民国乡村建设思想研究》（合作），发表了数十篇晏阳初及乡村建设研究的论文，参与和协助中央电视台和多家地方电视台拍摄的晏阳初专题片，担任电影《晏阳初》历史顾问。

Member of the Sichuan Provincial Federation of Social Sciences, and Member of the Sichuan Association of Chinese Writers. Honorary Dean of the China Rural Construction Institute of Southwestern University, Honorary Curator of the Bazhong Bazhou District Y.C. James Yen Museum, and Specially Invited Researcher of the Rural Research Center of Zhejiang Normal University.
